Sixth Form Super Learning Day

29 October 2019

The Super Learning Day for Years 12 and 13 was a great success. The students showed great maturity when exploring some sensitive topics such as healthy relationships, self-care, domestic violence, and mental health. Students were given the opportunity to engage in discussion, get advice and learn more about important topics from their form tutors and also our visitors from Loud Mouth Theatre Company who started the day with a performance about healthy relationships. Afterwards, all students were able to ‘hotseat’ the characters, asking them questions and examining their choices and relationships. Year 12 had the opportunity to complete a workshop with the Loudmouth actors exploring further issues such as consent and respect within relationships. These were topics that Year 13 also examined within their tutor groups, where lots of misconceptions were challenged and questions answered. One of the most challenging but important parts of the day was the session about cancer awareness. Students learned how to check for breast and testicular cancer and were moved by the testimonies of others that were shared.  Thank you everyone for your support.
