Message from the Headteacher

28 January 2022

Dear Parents/Carers

Year 8s sat their mid-year exams this week and it has been a very positive experience for them. All the pupils conducted themselves superbly and it is a credit to them that they have taken these exams very seriously. Over the coming weeks we will be sending home the results for year 7s and 8s via their data tracking sheets so please do look out for these.

There have also been a number of BTEC exams that have gone very smoothly and I hope that all the students sitting these found them to be positive experiences.

Next Thursday is our year 9 options evening. This is always a very important evening and is even more so this year given the disruptions the year group has faced over that last couple of years. Details are included here in this newsletter. We have decided to hold this meeting face to face as we know that this is the first opportunity that year 9 parents will have had to speak with teachers face to face since their children started school. We would ask though that you take a lateral flow test before coming to the evening and although restrictions around face coverings have been lifted we would be extremely grateful if you would wear one for this evening. Your support in this matter is greatly appreciated.

Next Friday 4th February is an INSET day so pupils are not required in school except for those in year 11 who have been invited in for additional lessons. These pupils will have been informed and told of times etc.

I will leave you with this prayer from St Thomas Aquinas who is the patron of all educational establishments.

Grant me, O Lord my God, a mind to know you, a heart to seek you, wisdom to find you, conduct pleasing to you, faithful perseverance in waiting for you, and a hope of finally embracing you. Amen.

Kind Regards

Mr A. Grant
