Message from the Headteacher

21 January 2022

Dear Parents/Carers

Last Sunday was peace Sunday and this week and next our assemblies will focus on our sixth standard: Always be kind and respectful. We talk about what it means to be kind and how kindness is a positive trait that goes into developing our character.

Next week year 8 will be sitting their mid-year assessments and this will be a great opportunity for them to demonstrate what they have learnt this year. They will be sitting them in exam conditions in the sports hall and it is important that they are well prepared. Year 8 teachers will have provided them with the topics to revise and the curriculum section on our school website is an excellent source of information.

February will be an important month for year 9 as we will be holding the year 9 options evening on 3rd February. This is always a key event for any student as they and their parents will have the opportunity to really find out about their subject choices for year 10. We have a very broad range here at St Edmund Campion Catholic School and I would ask that all year 9 parents make every effort to attend. It is our intention to hold this evening in person and in school.

The title Pope Francis has chosen for the 55th Message for the World Day of Peace is:

“Dialogue between Generations, Education, Work and Dialogue: Tools for Building Lasting Peace”.

In his message he talks of the importance that education plays in bringing about a peaceful world.

Kind Regards
