Message from the Headteacher

14 January 2022

Dear Parents/Carers

Thank you to all the year 11 parents who attended yesterday’s very successful virtual parents evening. I hope you found it useful and are able to use the information to support your child as we start the approach to this summer’s exams.

I was particularly proud this week of year 7 who sat their first internal examinations in the sports hall. They conducted themselves excellently and I hope the overall experience was a good one. Teachers will be marking the papers over the coming weeks and the outcomes will be sent to parents once all the data has been inputted. The year 8 assessment week is the week commencing 24th January and more information will be sent out in the coming weeks. Please remember that the curriculum section on the school website is an invaluable source of information.

You will no doubt have seen that there has been a change to the Covid isolation rules. If your child has tested positive then the isolation period has been cut to 5 days provided that they take a lateral flow test on the mornings of days 5 and 6 and both are negative. (i.e. on day 6 if you take a lateral flow test and it is negative the isolation ends immediately and your child can return to school that very day)

Finally, I am sure that you will have seen the very sad news on the passing of Jack Dromey MP. Jack had been the MP for Erdington since 2010 and was always a real champion of our school. The contributions he made to the Erdington area are invaluable and he would always stand up for his constituency in parliament. As a school we send our condolences to Jack’s family.

‘Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. May the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen’

Kind Regards

Mr A. Grant
