Message from the Headteacher

17 September 2021

Dear Parents/Carers

Welcome to our second newsletter of the year and I trust you are all keeping well. School life is very much thriving here at St Edmund Campion Catholic School and pupils are displaying a keenness for their learning.

This week we appointed our year 11 prefect team. I am very proud of all those who applied for this very prestigious position and this year we are assigning them all to different year groups so that they can be advocates for the pupils in their group. They have such a key role in being role models and ambassadors for all our pupils and I am very much looking forward to seeing them grow into this position and working with the staff to make Campion an even better place. I am sure that each and every one of them will be following in the footsteps of Jesus and exuding the Gospel virtues.

Our first TAG since the pandemic started today. TAG, standing for Talents and Gifts, is an opportunity every second Friday for pupils to choose something different that they normally wouldn’t have the opportunity to do. Examples this term include world cuisine, black history club, crazy science, salsa dancing, reading with pupils from the Abbey, Young Vincentians group, dodgeball, table tennis and mindfulness activities.

You may have seen in the news that Covid vaccinations are to be offered to all 12- 15 year olds. These will be conducted by the NHS in school much in the same way that flu and HPV vaccinations are undertaken. You will receive more information about this and if you decide that you would like your child to take up the vaccine then there is a consent form for you to complete. This will be taking place later in the term.

We pray today for the repose of the soul of Mr John Farrell whose funeral took place earlier today.

“We believe that Jesus died and rose again, and that it will be the same for those who have died in Jesus: God will bring them with him.” Thessalonians 4:13-14

Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace.

Amen.

Kind Regards

Mr A. Grant
