Message from the Headteacher

25 June 2021

Dear Parents/Carers

The highlight of this week has certainly been welcoming back many of our year 11 pupils for their sixth form masterclasses and interviews in preparing them for their induction in to year 12. It was great to see them all again and the feedback from them has been wonderful. A big thank you to all the staff involved in delivering the classes and to Mrs Griffiths and the sixth form team for making it so successful.

We have also submitted our moderation samples to the exam boards for the centre assessed GCSE, A level and BTEC grades and huge thanks must go to all the staff involved in this.

Sadly, we have had two positive Covid cases this week and there are some pupils needing to isolate at the moment. It just reminds us that we still need to be vigilant and keep to the measures in place. Please do keep taking the tests twice a week and report the results in the usual way. Please also remind your children to keep washing/sanitising their hands and whilst it is not compulsory, we would encourage your children to wear their face coverings in school. (Note: it is still compulsory on public transport).

We have another busy week next week with our sports day/super learning days next Thursday and Friday. It has been 2 years since our last sports day and whilst this one will be different, we are very much looking forward to it!

Tuesday is the great Solemnity day of SS Peter and Paul.  We first meet Peter, a lowly fisherman answering Jesus’ call to follow him.  We meet Saul/Paul for the first time in the Acts of the Apostles.  Both, from two very contrasting starting points, answer the call to be Apostles of the Gospel.  On this day of celebration, the opening prayer from the mass during the day says,”

O God, who on the Solemnity of the Apostles Peter and Paul give us the noble and holy joy of this day, grant, we pray, that your Church may in all things follow the teachings of those through whom she received the beginnings of right religion.  Through Our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy spirit, one God, for ever and ever.  Amen.”

Good luck to England on Tuesday (we might need it!).

Kind regards

Mr A Grant
