A Huge Thank You to Gabriel Agbonlahor

15 January 2021

Gabriel Agbonlahor has very kindly paid for a defibrillator for our school field.  We are truly delighted and extremely grateful for his support to our school community with this kind gesture.  Mr Finnegan contacted Gabby at the end of term and he immediately responded to say he would support the school’s fundraising efforts.  Amazingly, Gabby offered to purchase the defibrillator outright.

We know that defibrillators save lives. For the 30,000 people who have out-of-hospital cardiac arrests ever year, quickly receiving CPR and an electric shock from a defibrillator gives them the best chance of survival.  If a defibrillator is used within four minutes, it can increase the person’s chances of survival by three quarters. This is why having a defibrillator on our school field is so important to us!

We are grateful to Gabby for his generosity and support of our school.  As a past pupil of St Edmund Campion the gift is even more poignant.
