Message from the Headteacher
Just a short message from me this week as I am putting together my end of term letter which will go out next week.
We celebrated an online Mass this morning with Father Joe for our feast day and it really was wonderful to welcome him back to deliver Mass to our school community. Our pupils were very respectful and reverent throughout. We also held our rewards assemblies today where nominated pupils received certificates and badges celebrating their achievements so far this term. I am very proud to see so many pupils receiving awards.
The staff hampers have been going out this week to those families we identified as needing them and I have to say the emails of thanks are very heart warming.
It is fitting that this week we celebrate the 3rd Sunday of Advent and the lighting of the pink candle of joy. This candle is called the “Shepherd’s Candle” and is pink because rose is a liturgical colour for joy. The third Sunday of Advent is Gaudete Sunday and is meant to remind us of the joy that the world experienced at the birth of Jesus, as well as the joy that the faithful have reached the midpoint of Advent.
You will have received a letter outlining that school will be closed to pupils on the last day of term (Friday 18th December). I am also sending out a letter next week which states what you will need to do should one of your children test positive for Covid-19. We will still be contact tracing over the Christmas break for a certain period of time.
As we enter the final week of term, please keep sending your children in to school fully prepared and ready to learn with everything they need.
I will leave you with these words from St Jerome:
Good, Better, Best. Never let it rest. Till your good is better and your better is best.
Mr A. Grant
