Covid-19 Implications for Current Year 13 Cohort – UCAS 2022

Friday 20th March 2020 was our last day in school in the academic year 2019-20 owing to the imposition of the first national Lockdown and this year group, who were in Year 11 at the time, received no online lessons as there was no requirement for lessons to be provided for Years 11 or 13.

Students began Year 12 in September 2020 and the impact of being out of education for nearly 6 months and not sitting the GCSE exam series was evident in a lack of resilience and gaps in knowledge making the step up to Level 3 study greater. Level 3 teaching has been adapted to address gaps in foundational knowledge.

Our school provided a full suite of live online learning during the lockdown in January-March 2021. Our school cohort of students is 42% Pupil Premium and 38% FSM and a large number of our students were using laptops and dongles provided by the DfE.

We were lucky that we did not have to close the bubble for this year group across the academic year 2020-21at any point until their last week of Year 12 in 2021.
