Message from the Headteacher

06 January 2023

Dear Parents/Carers

Wishing you all a very Happy New Year and I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful Christmas break. We welcomed back all of our students this week and it has been a pleasure to see them all back in school ready to learn and be successful.

Today we celebrate the feast of the Epiphany, that special day when the three wise men visited the new born baby Jesus. We will be celebrating an Epiphany Mass this afternoon as a school and a big thank you to Father Tim Menzies for saying Mass for us.

We also honoured the life of Pope Emeritus Pope Benedict XVI on Thursday, the day of his funeral. As a school we gathered together in the morning for a short service reflecting Benedict’s life and time as Pope.

We wish all the year 7s the very best as they sit their mid-year assessments this week and next. Year 8 your assessments begin during the last week of January and you can see the kind of things you need to prepare for on our website in the curriculum page https://www.stedcamp.bham.sch.uk/503/curriculum-intent with practice tests here: https://www.stedcamp.bham.sch.uk/1581/progress-practice-papers

A reminder to ensure that your children come to school each day fully equipped with a pencil case of the correct equipment. You can purchase a fully stocked pencil case from the main office for £5 along with a scientific calculator also for £5. Please also note that if your child wishes to wear a jumper in the winter months this should be a black V neck jumper.

Next week we are very much looking forward to our year 7, 8 and 9 intra form sports events that will be taking place after school. A big thank you to the PE department for organising this event which promises to be very special.

I will leave you with this prayer for the Epiphany:

O God, by the leading of a star you manifested your only Son to the peoples of the earth: Lead us, who know you now by faith, to your presence, where we may see your glory face to face; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Kind Regards

Mr A. Grant
