Message from the Headteacher

09 December 2022

Dear Parents/Carers

We are very much into the Christmas spirit here at Campion as we look forward to the birth of our Lord Jesus. Every Monday during the morning line up we light the next candle on our Advent wreath and take a moment to reflect on this monumental event. It is lovely to see the Christmas trees around school and each lunch time Mr Sorroll is in the chapel with a group of students making Christmas cards.

This week we have also been holding our 100% attendance raffles during line up and it has been a pleasure giving out the rewards each day.

We are very much looking forward to our carol service on Tuesday and everyone is welcome to this occasion. The service starts at 6.00pm and it will be the first time we have been able to hold it at the Abbey church since before Covid times so it will be a very special occasion.

Last week we celebrated the feast of St Edmund Campion and welcomed Father Anton from the Netherlands who said Mass for us. It was very much a joyous occasion as it was the first time we had been able to celebrate this day together as a school (albeit over two Masses; we just don’t have the space to have all the pupils in one venue anymore!) since Covid.

Please remember that we will be finishing term on Friday 16th December. Children will be dismissed from 12.30 onwards and we would ask pupils to make their way straight home after dismissal. Over the Christmas break it would be good to make sure that your children have all the equipment and uniform they need for the next term. You can buy ties, badges and fully stocked pencil cases from school all for £5 each. I would also recommend that you get a plain black V neck jumper especially as it will get colder in January.

As I mentioned before, this week we lit the second candle on our Advent wreath. The second candle which is purple, represents faith. It is called the “Bethlehem Candle” as a reminder of Mary and Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem.

O Lord, stir up our hearts that we may prepare for Thy only begotten Son,

that through His coming we may be made worthy to serve Thee with pure souls.

Through the same Christ our Lord.

Kind Regards

Mr A. Grant
