Message from the Headteacher

01 July 2022

Dear Parents/Carers

It has been a very busy week this week. Firstly, we saw the end of all the exams including our internal exams and I have to say that all the pupils have conducted themselves superbly during this time. It’ll be nice to have the sports hall back for its proper use though!

On Tuesday we had year 8 parents’ evening and it was wonderful to see so many parents there. Thank you to everyone who attended and I hope you found the conversations useful. The feedback has been very positive with 92% of parents stating that their son or daughter enjoys school and 96% agreeing that their child is making good progress.

On Wednesday we held an online Mass with Father Joe to celebrate the feast day of SS Peter and Paul. This was a very special occasion and a wonderful way to celebrate two great martyrs of the Church.

Last night we held the first summer concert in school for three years and it was such a joyous occasion. Thank you so much to Mr Bishop and Mr Dawson for their organisation and participation and to all of the performers who were just spectacular. Thank you to everyone who attended and I hope you enjoyed the occasion as much as I did.

We also had a fun STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) event in school on Tuesday with year 7s getting to drive go karts in our sports hall. The organisers commented on just how well behaved everyone was and how much they enjoyed their time.

The coming weeks promise to be very busy. Next Wednesday we are very much looking forward to welcoming our new year 7s to school and will be meeting their parents on that evening. Next Thursday is also the year 11 prom. This is an event that is always very special and will be even more so this year being the first in three years. We are all very much looking forward to it.

I will leave you with this prayer for the Apostles Peter and Paul:

Almighty God, whose blessed apostles Peter and Paul glorified you by their martyrdom: Grant that your Church, instructed by their teaching and example, and knit together in unity by your Spirit, may ever stand firm upon the one foundation, which is Jesus Christ our Lord; who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Kind Regards

Mr A. Grant
