Message from the Headteacher

08 October 2021

Dear Parents/Carers

This week we held a Macmillan coffee morning to raise money for Macmillan cancer support. Our year 11s really stepped up by making and selling cakes, raising £112.67! This was a wonderful effort and we thank them all for their contributions.

We held the second of our information evenings this week for year 8. It was once more very well attended and I hope you as parents were able to get a good understanding of our curriculum and the expectations of your children.

You will no doubt have heard in the news about the Covid vaccine now being offered to 12 to 17-year olds. We will be hosting this on November 4th (first week after half term) and your child will have received the consent form. It is vital that this is completed and returned to us by Monday so that we can let the NHS know the numbers of vaccines required. Please can I encourage you and your child to take up this opportunity and if you do require more information, this NHS guide is a good read: https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/1023484/UKHSA_12073_COVID-19_Guide_for_all_CYP_12_to_17_leaflet.pdf

Our staff today during our INSET day are receiving some external training from our Educational Psychologists on understanding some of the needs of our most vulnerable pupils. This will help them to identify those pupils who are most in need and adopt strategies to support them with their learning.

I will leave you with these words from St John Henry Newman: Fear not that your life shall come to an end but rather fear that it shall never have a beginning

Kind Regards

Mr A. Grant
