Message from the Headteacher

09 September 2022

Dear Parents/Carers

It has been wonderful to welcome back all of your children to school this week. Speaking to pupils in assembly and also dropping in to lessons, you can see that everyone is well prepared and ready for another successful school year here at St Edmund Campion. We have spent time this week during tutor time getting pupils well prepared and thinking about their learning journey over the year and how they are going to get to where they need to be.

It is lovely to see the children looking so smart on their return to school and we thank you as parents for sending them in fully prepared. If you do need to purchase a fully stocked pencil case, these can be bought from the main office for £5. Calculators can also be purchased.

Next week is our open evening and we are very much looking forward to welcoming parents and children from year 6 to school so that you can see just what St Edmund Campion is about. The open evening begins at 6.00pm and will end at 7.30pm with my first talk being at 6.05pm in the main hall. We are also holding year group information evenings over the coming weeks for parents where you will be able to learn more about the curriculum and what we expect from each child in school.

This week has been a momentous week in the history of our country with a new Prime Minister being appointed and the sad death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. As our Head of State, she took her responsibilities seriously and lived her life with integrity, dedication and dignity and held firm to a moral code which was rooted in her faith. An example for us all. We enter a period of National Mourning today and we will hear more about this as guidance comes out for schools in the next few days. In the meantime, school will be open as normal. We pray for the repose of her soul and give thanks to God for her life of faith and service.

O God, from whom comes everything that is upright and true:

Accept our thanks for the gifts of heart and mind thou didst bestow

on thy servant Elizabeth,

And which she showed forth among us in her words and deeds;

Deal graciously we pray thee, with those who mourn,

especially the members of the Royal Family,

that casting every care on thee, they may know the consolation of thy love,

Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Kind Regards

Mr A. Grant
