Message from the Headteacher

18 March 2022

Dear Parents/Carers

A very happy St Patrick’s Day for yesterday to everyone in our community. We celebrated in our Miquill restaurant yesterday with a special St Patrick’s Day menu which was very well received.

It has been a very busy couple of weeks and first of all thank you to all the year 10s and 6th formers who have been sitting their internal exams this week. Their conduct and professionalism has been excellent and I hope the experience has been an invaluable one. It is year 10 parents evening on Thursday and we are very much looking forward to seeing all parents then.

Congratulations to the year 8 and 11 football teams who have both made it to the cup finals due to be played next week. Year 11 are playing John Willmott and year 8 Bishop Walsh and we will all be cheering them on.

Last week’s year 7 parents’ evening was a hugely successful evening and it was lovely being able to hold face to face events once more. We gave parents a questionnaire to complete and it was heartening to see so many positive comments about how happy their children are in school. 168 parents filled in the questionnaire and 96% of them felt their child was making good progress, that behaviour was managed well and that they are happy with their son or daughter’s experience.

Next Friday will be a late start for pupils as we are undertaking some short staff training. The gates will open at 8.45 so please do not send your child to school before this time.

Please continue to pray for the people of Ukraine and I will leave you with these words accredited to St Patrick:

"As I arise today, may the strength of God pilot me,

the power of God uphold me, the wisdom of God guide me.

May the eye of God look before me, the ear of God hear me, the word of God speak for me.

May the hand of God protect me, the way of God lie before me, the shield of God defend me, the host of God save me.

May Christ shield me today.

Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me, Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me,

Christ on my right, Christ on my left, Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit, Christ when I stand,

Christ in the heart of everyone who thinks of me, Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me,

Christ in every eye that sees me,

Christ in every ear that hears me.

Amen."

Kind Regards

Mr A. Grant
