Message for Parents of Year 9 Pupils

21 May 2021

Your child will complete their Progress Tests in the week beginning Tuesday 8th June (This is the first week back after the half term break). Each student will be given a copy of their test timetable this week, they have also been sent out via ParentMail. When the tests are marked your child will receive a percentage score, an attitude to learning score and homework score. Once the data is collated we will send the results home to parents/carers.

One of the best ways to revise and prepare for the tests is to complete retrieval practice homework. This week in form, we have introduced a new strategy for pupils to use for their homework. This year pupils have been taught mind maps, Cornell Notes and now round the clock revision, which are all excellent methods to organise notes and remember key information.

We have also recently updated our website with practice papers. They are under the curriculum tab and in the section called Progress Test Practice Papers. The link is here Progress Practice Papers - St Edmund Campion Catholic School and Sixth Form (stedcamp.bham.sch.uk) Our staff have made annotated copies of tests with a step by step guide on how to answer questions, how much time to spend on a question and advice on how to gain more marks. We recommend that your child spends some time working on the practice papers in the next few weeks.

Below are some links to some other excellent revision materials for your child to use and a link to a website with a collection of revision methods that your child can use to prepare. They have been learning some of these strategies in form time and will be familiar with several.
