Message from the Vice Principal

19 January 2024

Dear Parents/Carers

I can’t quite believe we have come to the end of our second week since our return from the
Christmas break, it really has flown by in what is a short half term anyway.

Following on from the year 9 assessments last week, it has this week been the turn of year
10. They have been undertaking these in the sports hall, as they will do their GCSE’s in just
over a year’s time, and so it has been the perfect preparation for them, we hope they
shown the very best of themselves and they identify areas where they can improve even
further.

A big thank you to all the year 7 parents who attended parents evening on Wednesday
night, we hope it was a meaningful experience and you were able to gain an insight into
the start year 7 have made with us.

This week we continued our commitment once again to educating our students on their
future options. It has been brilliant once again to have external speakers in school talking to
our year 9’s about their career choices in the future. I know both these assemblies were well
received and extremely valuable.

As Mr Grant said last week, we have revisited some of our standards this week once again,
including our line up and how we start the day. With this in mind it seems the ideal
opportunity to remind students that they need to be on the playground by 8.45 please.

Whilst talking about punctuality it also only seems right to emphasise once again the
importance of students being in school. Taking a day off means 5 hours of face to face
teacher time lost which is incredibly difficult to claw back. With this in mind, it is imperative
that you send your child to school every day to allow them to have the best opportunity for
being successful in their time with us.

With only a few school weeks until we break for the half term, a reminder that we will be
undertaking one of attendance focus weeks toward the end of this half term with students
being entered into prize draws for their attendance during this time!

Finally, I will leave you with a couple of reminders and as always, thank you for your
ongoing support in all we do in the best interests of your son/daughter.

  • Please remind your children the importance of heading straight home after school and not hanging around in the local community.
  •  With the colder weather please ensure students are wearing appropriate outer clothing which is in line with our uniform policy which can be found on the school website.
