Born For This
Every year, during Holy Week, the school collaborates with the parish of Ss Thomas and Edmund of Canterbury to stage an incredible Passion Play, entitled ‘Born For This: The Way of the Cross’, in the magnificent Erdington Abbey.
‘Born For This’ is a creation of CJM Music, with reflections written by Jude Martin and music and lyrics from Jo Boyce and Mike Stanley. The play is a powerful interpretation of the Stations of the Cross and a beautiful way to begin Holy Week.
The incredible setting of Erdington Abbey, in the presence of the Most Blessed Sacrament, helps to make the final message of the play more pertinent: “You are living again, here among us now! You are the Christ, our King, our Lord!”
Each year, we look to build upon the successes of the previous show, and we aim to involve more of the local community. In 2024, we were delighted to work together with the Abbey Primary School, who provided a group of wonderfully talented narrators.
For two consecutive years, our performance of ‘Born For This’ has been incorporated into the YMCA’s Easter Service at the Chris Bryant Centre in Erdington. We are delighted to work closely alongside the YMCA and Churches Together in Erdington!
