Last Chaplaincy News Of 2018

Welcome to our last Chaplaincy News for 2018.  What a year and what a final term it has been.  This last month has been a joyful journey in preparation for Christmas.  We have embraced the message of Pope Francis and marched with joy in our hearts; we have acknowledged the news we spread is the Good News of Jesus Christ.  This week we have delivered in excess of over 2,000 items to the Bethany Food Bank.  We support Pastor Francis and his team, and we look forward to maintaining this relationship during the year.  Francis told us that they are feeding over 1,000 families a month at the moment.  We will continue to support him in his endeavours in the coming months.

Our students have been so generous this term too raising over £1,300 for charity.  This Wednesday we hosted a Christmas Party for out VIP’s all paid for by our students.  Over 80 senior citizens joined us for an afternoon of good food, drink and entertainment.  Being new to the school I was humbled by the work of our Sixth Form Students who hosted the afternoon.  They were fabulous.

This week to, the whole school has participated in our Advent Liturgies.  These were prayerfully led by our wonderful school choir under the baton of Mr Dawson.  Sophie from our Sixth Form beautifully sang “Mary don’t you know.” The accompanying video shows that the child Jesus grew up and today presents us with the challenge to “follow him.”  Mrs Steele spoke about putting Christ back into Christmas, and in doing so encouraged our students to attend mass on Christmas day.

Our school community wish you a Blessed, Holy and Happy Christmas.  I leave you with the words of Pope Francis addressed to our young people.  They could equally be addressed to you.  Please try and make time for the true meaning of Christmas this year.  Unlike our presents we are wrapped in the Love of God, which has no beginning or end.

Pope Francis says:

Young people do not solely need material things.

They need to have values which are the heart of people...

spirituality, generosity, solidarity, perseverance, fellowship and joy.’

Come Let Us Adore Him, Christ The Lord.
