Weekly Chaplaincy News

This week our Sixth Form have helped support our Macmillan coffee afternoon.  Many beautiful cakes and buns were donated by both staff and students. To date we have raised almost £400 and it continues to rise. We will update in next week’s newsletter. This is a fabulous sum of money that will go to the great work of the Macmillan nurses and co-workers.  In assemblies this week we have been looking at the theme of sacrifice and how each one of us is touched by the sacrifice of others in a very real way.  Ss Cosmos and Damien who we celebrated this week sacrificed their lives for their faith.  St Vincent de Paul who we celebrate on Friday sacrificed everything to help the poor.

Each of us in our own way make genuine sacrifices so that our students get the best education.

This week we also welcomed two seminarians from Oscott College who are joining us on a placement for the next year.  I ask you to keep them and the other seminarians in your prayers.

This coming week we will celebrate our House Masses.  On Thursday it is St Chad House on and Harvington House on Friday.  Both masses start at 11.30.  We would like to offer an invitation to you to attend these masses with your children and the school community.  We acknowledge that we are part of a bigger community, without whose help we would struggle to survive.

We have the most beautiful chapel in school where weekly we celebrate mass and exposition of the Blessed Sacrament.  During these times we remember you in our prayers.  Please encourage your son or daughter to attend.  It is the most wonderful way possible for us to come into the presence of the risen Christ.

To finish I would like to leave you with a little message from this Sunday’s Gospel.  Jesus says to his disciples, “Anyone who us not against us is for us.”  I would invite you this week to think of ways you can best support your child in their formation as young men and women.  If you get a chance say a prayer at home with you family in the knowledge that if God is for us

who can be against.

God Bless,

St Edmund Campion pray for us.
