Message from the Headteacher

17 June 2022

Dear Parents/Carers

I hope you have been enjoying the beautiful weather these past few days. It really has been a scorcher! With this in mind we have been encouraging all pupils to ensure they keep well hydrated throughout the day so please encourage them to bring in water bottles and keep filling them up during lunch and break. We also said this week that for the three days of hot weather pupils were permitted to not wear their blazers. As the weather will be cooler on Monday we expect pupils to return to wearing their blazers. Every morning I speak to pupils during line up and should the weather become hot again we will notify pupils of this each day.

Many of you will know the Church of Ss Thomas and Edmund of Canterbury on Sutton Rd (also known as The Abbey) and this is obviously a place close to our hearts here at Campion. Sadly, the Abbey are in dire need of funds to support with repair works that are urgently needed. They need to find around £600,000! We’ll be looking to see what we can do to help over the coming months but if there is anything you can do to help I know they will be very grateful.

Once again, our year 11s and 13s have been impeccable in their exams this week and we are very much looking forward to the annual BBQ next Thursday to mark (almost) the end of the exams for year 11. At this time, it is tradition for pupils to sign each other’s shirts etc There is a History exam the following week for many pupils and it is important to be aware that the pupils will need a clean shirt for this exam so you must ensure that they have a spare one for this exam if they intend for theirs to be signed.

A heads up for year 8 parents in that we have their parents evening on Tuesday 28th June and we are very much looking forward to seeing you all there.

Huge congratulations to two members of staff who have both given birth these last couple of weeks. We wish Mrs Hives and Mrs Bowater and their families all the very best.

Finally, a very Happy Father’s Day to all the Dads out there. I hope you all have a very enjoyable day.

Kind Regards

Mr A. Grant

“God our father, we give you thanks and praise for fathers young and old.

We pray for young fathers, newly embracing their vocation; may they find courage and perseverance to balance work, family and faith in joy and sacrifice.

We pray for our own fathers around the world whose children are lost or suffering; may they know that the god of compassion walks with them in their sorrow.

We pray for men who are not fathers but still mentor and guide us with fatherly love and advice.

We remember fathers, grandfathers, and great grandfathers who are no longer with us but who live forever in our memory and nourish us with their love. Amen”
