Message from the Headteacher

20 May 2022

Dear Parents/Carers

It has been a very emotional week this week, with the start of the exam season and saying goodbye to the year 13s. The year 13 leavers Mass was such a lovely occasion and it was very emotional saying goodbye. It is always amazing to see these young people who are now adults and remembering them when they started with us all those years ago in year 7. We wish all the year 13s the very best with their exams and with their futures and please do keep in touch and let us know how you are getting on. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the 6th form team for all the support and guidance they have provided for their students over the years, and in particular to Mrs Griffiths who really is an exceptional leader of our 6th form and someone who really holds the well being of every individual to heart.

A very special mention to our year 11s this week who have been an absolute credit to us and themselves during their first week of exams. It is easy to forget what a challenging time this can be for these young people and it is important to recognise how they have overcome many challenges these past couple of years to get to this point. It is fantastic to see so many pupils taking up the morning revision opportunities and I must thank all the staff involved in delivering these. Good luck to everyone taking exams and remember we will all be saying our prayers for you all.

We had a number of children in years 7 and 8 take the UK Junior Maths challenge and some of the results are excellent. Well done to everyone who achieved a Bronze, Silver or Gold certificate and particular congratulations to Mateusz and Natalia in year 7 who both achieved Gold and will be taking part in the next round!

There is a lot happening around Catholic Life at the moment and our new Lay Chaplain, Mr Sorroll is already having a very positive impact in this area. Next week we will be holding a May procession on Tuesday and celebrating the Mass of our Lord’s Ascension in to Heaven on Thursday.

I hope you all have an enjoyable weekend and I will end with this prayer as we think of all our students sitting exams at this time.

Dear Lord

We ask You to be with each and every one of our students who are sitting their exams. We ask you to give them confidence and resilience during this time and ask that they are given the opportunity to show themselves and You their true potential and capabilities.

We ask You to watch over their well-being and keep them well and healthy during this time and to calm any anxieties they may face.

We ask that You are made known to each and every one of them and that they know you are with them always.

Amen

Kind Regards

Mr A. Grant
