Message from the Headteacher

13 May 2022

Dear Parents/Carers

Next week sees the start of the full public exam season, our first since 2019! We wish all of our students who are taking exams over the next seven weeks all the very best and I am sure that your hard work and efforts will be rewarded. We will all be rooting for you and remember we are here if you need us. Mr Hussey and Mrs Griffiths have gone through the comprehensive timetables for the coming weeks with all the students outlining all of the support sessions that will be taking place. The Mass for year 11 success will be taking place later today when we will be asking God to help and support all our students during this time.

We held a disco in school for year 7 last night in order to raise money for the crisis in Ukraine and it was lovely to see so many enjoying themselves. Thank you to the canteen staff in Miquill’s who provided food and to Dr Jones and the sixth formers for organising it all and making it happen.

This Sunday’s Gospel from John 13:31 is that of Jesus’s new commandment: ‘Love one another as I have loved you.’ It’s a message we regularly reinforce with pupils as we encourage everyone to treat each other with kindness and respect. In fact, our new 6th standard introduced last term is to ‘Always be kind and respectful.’

Loving God, fill my heart with the love that you freely give. Make love my first and last thoughts. May I love others and freely give to them. Make my spirit a spirit of joy, happiness, and love for both my friends and my enemies. Help me love as abundantly as you have loved me. Amen.

Kind regards and once more, all the best to years 11 and 13 in their exams

Kind Regards

Mr A. Grant
