Message from the Headteacher

05 November 2021

Dear Parents/Carers

It was good to see so many pupils taking up the Covid vaccine this week and I must thank the team of NHS nurses who came in and administered the injections on Thursday. This will go some way in helping us all return to normality.

Next week is a very busy week with our super learning day on Tuesday and our sixth form open evening on Thursday. We will also be holding a Remembrance service on Thursday morning to mark Armistice day.

On Thursday Mr Emery, the CSEL for the multi academy, spent the morning with us and he was very pleased with what he saw and commented on how well behaved and engaged the students were.

This week we have definitely noticed that it is getting colder and darker earlier. Please encourage your child to wear a plain black V neck jumper. We will be getting some in to school over the next week or so and we will send out more information as to how you can buy one next week. However, it is just a plain black v neck jumper which you can buy from many clothes stores.

This Sunday’s Gospel from Mark is that of the Widow’s offering.

” He sat down opposite the treasury and watched the people putting money into the treasury, and many of the rich put in a great deal. A poor widow came and put in two small coins, the equivalent of a penny. Then he called his disciples and said to them, “I tell you solemnly, this poor widow has put more in than all who have contributed to the treasury; for they have all put in money they had over, but she from the little she had has put in everything she possessed, all she had to live on.”

St Chad’s sanctuary have appealed to all schools to help and support them. They have struggled during the pandemic to raise the funds and donations they would normally receive to help refugees. If you would like to support them please take a look at their website as to how you can help and what you can donate. http://www.stchadssanctuary.com/index.php/donations/donating-goods

Finally, please encourage your children to stay safe over this bonfire weekend and to be sensible regarding fireworks etc. Children should not be able to buy fireworks as you must be 18 or over. However, there are always stories about how some children have been hurt when playing with fireworks so please do remind them to stay safe especially with the dark nights approaching.

Kind Regards

Mr A. Grant
