Message from the Headteacher

22 October 2021

Dear Parents/Carers

As this half term draws to a close, I would like to extend my gratitude to you all for your ongoing support for the school community. It has been a challenging half term with Covid 19 still impacting on the running of the school either through the mass testing or staff absence. Not to mention supply delivery issues due to the lorry driver crisis! However, despite the challenges, as always, the St Edmund Campion community have risen to the challenge!

This week we held a service that involved all nine of our multi academy schools! That was around 4000 pupils together taking part in the feast of St John Paul II as we ‘opened the doors for Christ’ via an online service. Huge thanks to Father Isaac from the Abbey for celebrating the event with us. It really was a wonderful occasion and thank you to all our pupils for the reverence shown during the service.

There are a couple of notable events very soon after half term. Our first super learning day will take place on Tuesday 9th November and more details will follow. We have a wide range of activities planned for this day and we are very much looking forward to it. The second event is our 6th form open evening on 11th November and we would very much welcome all of our year 11s to this evening where you will get a chance to see how our outstanding 6th form could be an option for you.

Year 11 mock exams will begin a few weeks after we return during the week commencing 29th November. It is important that all pupils are preparing for these exams and please remember that all year 11s have a bag of revision guides that was provided for them last year.

Over half term can I ask that parents ensure the following:

  • If you have given consent to the lateral flow testing please do continue to take these twice a week and record the results (positive or negative) on the NHS website. (If you receive a positive lateral flow please let the school know (flemingj@stedcamp.bham.sch.uk) and get a PCR test immediately)

  • Please check that your child has all the correct uniform. We will be having a uniform drive after half term to ensure that all pupils are consistently wearing the correct uniform (ties can be bought from the main office for £5. Note the old black House ties are no longer accepted as our uniform). Likewise, equipment. The full pencil cases can be bought from the main office for £5

I hope that you all have an enjoyable half term and we look forward to seeing your children back after half term.

‘Do not be afraid. Open wide the doors to Christ. Life with Christ is a wonderful adventure’

St John Paul II Kind Regards Mr A. Grant
