Message from the Headteacher

21 May 2021

Dear Parents/Carers

We are approaching the end of a very busy half term and I would like to thank all parents for your ongoing support. It has been the first full half term we have had this year without any lockdowns or isolations or mass testing programmes. We are still in zones and bubbles and are still staggering starts and ends to the day but it does feel that we are beginning to get back to normal. There will be some slight changes to the exit times after half term and we will communicate this to you in due course.

We say goodbye to our year 11s and 13s on Friday 28th May. We wish our year 13s all the very best in their next steps whether that be University, apprenticeships or employment. Please do keep in touch and let us know how you are getting on. I hope to see our year 11s again during next half term when you come in for our Sixth Form masterclasses. I know Mrs Griffiths has given you all the dates and times etc. I’m also very much looking forward to the year 11 prom taking place on 12th July at Moxhull Hall. It promises to be a wonderful event, even more so this year I hope.

In order to support the staff with the awarding of grades this summer for year 11s and 13s (and year 10 English) we are holding an INSET day on 7th June (the first day after half term) so your child will not be required to be in school on this day.

Sadly, we have had a few parents contacting school if their child has been placed in detention and being rude to the office team. Please note that it isn’t acceptable for this to happen and it is not likely that full details of the detention will be known to the office assistants. If you need clarification regarding any detention matter then your child’s Head of Year will call you back at an appropriate time.

It may be the case that some of you are booking holidays for the summer holidays. Please be aware that pupils will begin returning to school from Friday 3rd September (full details will be published soon). If you are unsure about the traffic light system and which countries are on the different lists or whether quarantining is required you can read this here: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/red-amber-and-green-list-rules-for-entering-england

Finally, I will leave you with these words of peace from Job 22

‘Get along well with God and be at peace; from this something good will come to you. Receive instruction from His mouth; put His words in your mind’

Kind regards

Mr A Grant
