Message from the Headteacher

07 May 2021

Dear Parents/Carers

I hope you all managed to enjoy the bank holiday weekend (despite the downpour on Monday).

I am going to use my piece this week just to remind pupils and parents of some of the standards and expectations we have in school. It is crucially important that all our pupils come to school with everything they need to be fully prepared for a full day’s worth of hard work and learning. The vast majority of pupils meet our high expectations everyday but it is always good to remind ourselves of these expectations and I will be doing this during our assemblies next week.

Uniform sets the standards and the full uniform policy can be read here on our website: https://www.stedcamp.bham.sch.uk/534/school-uniform We are noticing that a number of pupils are not wearing the correct trousers. (In addition, pupils must bring their own face coverings to school. It should not be the expectation that school provides these for pupils).

Equipment: Pupils must bring in their own pencil case with all the required equipment in which includes black pens, glue sticks, green pens, ruler, highlighters and rubber. A fully stocked pencil case can be bought for £5 from Student Services. In addition, pupils must bring to school their own scientific calculator.

Planner: All pupils have a planner and this must be brought to school every day so that homework can be recorded in it.

Please note that form tutors will give detentions for that day to pupils who do not have the above on any given day so please do emphasise this with your children.

Punctuality is crucial and if your child is late either to school or a lesson they are placed in detention that same day.

Finally, and probably most importantly, we expect your child to work hard every lesson and complete their homework. The retrieval homework provides a great opportunity for pupils to consolidate their learning and our teachers provide lots of work for pupils each lesson which should be completed. Your child should expect to be sanctioned if they are not working.

Whilst this may seem like a lot of sanctions, they are simply the very basic expectations that we have for all of our pupils. Our five standards are displayed throughout school and I would ask you to remind your children that meeting these every day will lead to them being successful.

1. Be present     2. Be on time     3. Appear smart and professional      4. Work extremely hard 5. Behave extremely well

Thank you for your ongoing support. Kind regards

Mr A Grant
