Catholic Life of the Sixth Form

17 December 2020

What a term it has been in the Sixth Form!  The students and teachers have spent a great deal of time this term thinking about others in both our school community and local community.

Our charity group have been working exceptionally hard this festive season; they have made Christmas cards that have been on sale to the staff, ran a Christmas competition and really pushed supporting our local foodbank.

Unfortunately, this year we have not been able to hold our annual VIP Christmas Party where we welcome senior members of our local communities and parishes for an afternoon of Christmas fun and a lovely Christmas dinner.  Instead, our students have brought in festive items and we have made wonderful hampers that are being delivered to our regular attendees.

Recognising that this year has been tough on so many, we have collected hundreds of items for the Bethany Foodbank in Erdington to support local families over the Christmas season. One member of the Sixth Form personally donated 150 items which will make a huge difference especially at this time of year.

We have supported each other, prayed for each other and have made it to the end of a very challenging term.  With this in mind, Mrs Griffiths organised our ‘Secret Saint’ campaign where each member of the Sixth Form received the name of another student that they needed to look out for a little bit more than normal, do something nice for them, say something supportive or uplifting.  The Sixth Form staff also got involved and focused on supporting another staff member.  It has been so lovely to see all of the little gestures and acts of kindness.
