Year 7 Cycling

17 December 2020

We have been very fortunate during this last half term to secure the use of some small bikes from 'The Active Wellbeing Society (www.theaws.co.uk). TAWS is a community benefit society and cooperative, working to develop healthy, happy communities living active and connected lives.

TAWS have loaned us a small number of bikes so that we can help our younger students to learn to cycle during some of their PE lessons, helping pupils to become more independent and confident as well as learning new skills and improving their physical fitness. So far, some of our pupils in the girls 7C groups have been either learning to cycle or to build up their skill and relearning how to ride more confidently. We hope to roll this programme out to more pupils next term as well as investigating the possibility of pupils taking their level 1 and 2 bike ability certificates.

We would like to thank Donna Spence from TAWs for making this initiative possible and look forward to seeing more of our pupils eventually riding to school.
