Exams Update

16 October 2020

The latest news from the Department of Education regarding the summer series of exams is summarised below:

  • Students will be given more time to prepare for 2021 exams
  • Exams will go ahead next summer, underpinned by contingencies for all possible scenarios
  • The government has announced that the summer exam series will start on 7 June and end on 2 July for almost all AS/A levels and GCSEs
  •

Results days are:

Tuesday 24th August for A/AS levels

Friday 27th August for GCSEs

The academic year will start in September 2021 as usual.

The Government has confirmed that it will engage widely with schools over the next six weeks to identify any risks to exams at a national, local and individual student level, and consider measures needed to address any potential disruption.

More details will be published later in the autumn to ensure students have confidence that they will be fairly treated in terms of assessment in 2021.

One Maths and one English GCSE exam will be held just before the May half-term, giving all Year 11 students who are affected by Covid-19 the best possible chance of still sitting a paper in each of these core subjects.

Mock Exams for Year 11 and Sixth Form will start on 30th November 2020. It is essential that all students revise and are fully prepared for these exams. It is vital that we have an accurate picture of where our students currently are.

We wish all our students the very best for their mock exams. We recognise what a challenging few months it has been for our students.
