Bad Weather Arrangements
The decision to close a school due to severe weather lies with the Headteacher in consultation with the Chair of the Governing Board. This arrangement enables decisions to be taken quickly, in the light of local circumstances and or factors unique to the school, such as local transport or site related issues.
Birmingham City Council decision to close all its maintained schools due to severe weather
In extreme circumstances such as very heavy snowfall, the Director, Education and Skills in consultation with the Cabinet Member for Education, Skills and Culture, may decide to close all schools and centres that are maintained by BCC. The timing of the decision will be informed by an assessment of the conditions and forecast. It will also seek to prevent people making unnecessary journeys.
How the school will inform Parents and Carers if there is a school closure
- A message will be sent to all parents via Parentmail.
- The school will update the website with the information
- A message will be sent out on twitter via the school account @stedcamp
School closure information is broadcast on local radio stations. Please listen to the following radio stations from 7.00 a.m. and listen for St Edmund Campion Catholic School.
