Message from the Headteacher

09 July 2021

Dear Parents/Carers

What a week it has been! Sports day and super learning day last week were fantastic and then England getting to a first major tournament final since 1966!

We have started the process of appointing our prefects for next year. This is going to be a very important job for the chosen pupils and they will be an important representative body for our student body. It has been very impressive to read some of the application letters and I thank everyone who has applied.

You will no doubt have seen that things in school will be more or less returning to normal in September. We will have a staggered start to the year to accommodate the lateral flow testing we need to do. Please look out for an information pack that will be coming your way via ParentMail with all the details of the September start to the year.

With regards to the lateral flow testing, the requirement is that consenting pupils are tested twice on their return to school. If you have already consented there is no need to do so again (although if you do want to withdraw your consent please email enquiry@stedcamp.bham.sch.uk ). If you haven’t consented and wish to do so, we will be sending out an electronic form for you to complete.

In school we made two very important appointments this week. We are delighted that Miss Collis will be joining the Geography department in September. Miss Maclellan (soon to be Mrs Hives!) was also successful in being appointed as our new Head of Year 7 for September. Congratulations to both.

On Wednesday some of our year 9 pupils led a virtual Catholic Life service with some of our multi academy primary schools and we were very proud to see them take up this responsibility. It was extremely well received by everyone.

We also welcomed the parents of our new year 7s to school on Wednesday as they came in to collect all the information and purchase the equipment and uniform packs. It was wonderful to see them all throughout the day.

I will leave you with these words from St Gregory: ‘He is not wise to me who is wise in words only, but he who is wise in deeds.’ Maybe this would apply to Gareth Southgate as he leads the England team out this weekend.

Good luck England!

Kind regards

Mr A Grant
