Message from the Headteacher

13 November 2020

Dear Parents/Carers

I hope you are all well and safe during this time and coping with the second national lockdown.

On Wednesday we held a Remembrance service in honour of all those who have died in war. As the pupils lined up in the morning, Mr Oxley and Mr Dunnigan conducted a very special service. It was humbling to see all the pupils so reverent and respectful during this service. Pupils then received an online assembly delivered by some year 7 pupils.

We have unfortunately had a few identified positive COVID cases this week. The relevant groups have all been contacted and are now isolating for the required time. It is very frustrating having to send pupils home but our approach of only sending identified contact groups home rather than whole year groups is working. As always, we thank you for your ongoing support with this situation.

Miss Maclellan has begun her role as Head of Year 8 alongside Mrs Adams and together they are working very hard with year 8 to keep them on track and achieving well.

If I could take this opportunity to remind you of a few things:

  • Parentmail is our primary form of contact so please download the app. If you are struggling with this then please contact our ICT services at helpdesk@stedcamp.bham.sch.uk or via the enquiries address at enquiry@stedcamp.bham.sch.uk
  • The winter months will be drawing in soon so please do start providing your sons and daughters with plain, black V neck jumpers to wear under blazers. These are the only jumpers allowed
  • Equipment pencil cases can be purchased from Student Services for £5
  • The year 11 and post 16 mock exams will begin in a couple of weeks. Please ensure your children are well prepared for them as there could be added significance to the data we receive from these

Finally, I would like to wish all of our Hindu and Sikh community a very special Diwali.

I’ll leave you with these words from St Padre Pio:

“The Lord sometimes makes you feel the weight of the cross. Although the weight seems intolerable, you are able to carry it, because the Lord, in His love and mercy extends a hand to you and gives you strength.”

Kind Regards

Mr A. Grant
