Back to NewsSixth Formers: Spreading Happiness at the Happy Streets Awards
On Saturday 2nd February, Mrs Quoroll attended the Happy Streets Awards Ceremony at the Sanctuary Community Hub in Castle Vale. The event was part of a joint collaboration between Ageing Better and Compass Support. The aim of the project was to promote strong community links and develop inter-generational projects especially tackling the issue of loneliness. The evening was a celebration of some of the remarkable projects that were nominated for a Happy Streets Award.
Our Sixth Formers created a wonderful intergenerational project called Community Bridges which saw elderly members of our community come in to Sixth Form to cook with our students and engage in different workshops - our project culminated in a fabulous vintage tea party!
The campaign was funded by the National Lottery Community Fund and has been brought about by Ageing Better in Birmingham, working in conjunction with BVSC (Birmingham Voluntary Service Council) and Compass Support, the charitable arm of The Pioneer Group.
It was a delight to attend the awards and receive the award on behalf of our outstanding Sixth Form students and team. Well done to all involved.
