    This week our Sixth Form have helped support our Macmillan coffee afternoon. Many beautiful cakes and buns were donated by both staff and students. To date we have raised almost £400 and it continues to rise. We will update in next week’s newsletter. This is a fabulous sum of money that will go to the great work of the Macmillan nurses and co-workers. In assemblies this week we have been looking at the theme of sacrifice and how each one of us is touched by the sacrifice of others in a very real way. Ss Cosmos and Damien who we celebrated this week sacrificed their lives for their faith. St Vincent de Paul who we celebrate on Friday sacrificed everything to help the poor. Read More

    Our Chaplaincy Team participated in the annual Chaplaincy Commissioning Mass at St Chad’s Cathedral this week. During the year the Chaplaincy Team will work with the headteacher, governors, staff and students to ensure that the values and ethos of our Catholic school are celebrated. In the next few weeks we will have our House masses at the Abbey. I would like to invite as many parents and guardians as possible to attend so as to support our students and school community.   • Sixth Form Woodlands

    On Monday 10th September, Year 12 took part in the Sixth Form’s annual induction at Woodlands Outdoor Retreat Centre. The day was a wonderful example of the fresh start our students have had, working together to achieve things that they didn’t think possible at the start of the day. They completed an assault course, kayaking, a high ropes course that included some amazing trapeze skills and a number of Spiderman moves and a Vines and Bridges course that took real resilience. It is there we find the words of Jesus himself inviting us to continue his work by ‘making disciples of all nations.’ He commands us to bring Good News to all. Here at St Edmund Campion we answer that invitation. Through our vocation and ministry, we ensure that Christ is at the centre of all we do and say.     JCP Support For Schools

    Over the Summer holidays JCP ran 2 new Employability Programmes. Ten year 10 students took part from St Edmund Campion Catholic School. The first programme saw the students complete a Silver Crest Award that is designed to inspire people to think and behave like scientists and engineers. The project set was to ‘Produce a tender for an Ecological Mitigation Site’ In the students plan, they needed to include: a bat house, Great Crested Newt pond, Planting and a community area.     Oxbridge Seminar At Bishop Vesey

    At the end of the summer term, two of our Sixth Form students attended an Oxbridge Seminar at Bishop Vesey Grammar School. Through an inspiring lecture from Dr Sam Lucy they found out more about the admission processes of both Oxford and Cambridge University Both universities’ UCAS application deadline is on 15th October. However, the universities start looking through the applications as soon as the application window opens in September. We are delighted that all our new Year 13 students have completed their draft personal statements and are already finalising their applications ready for submission to UCAS. Read More

    As we start a new academic year we pray for everyone in our Campion Community. We especially pray for the repose of the soul of Mary Baines, retired Headteacher of St Margaret Mary and St Joseph’s (Nechells), who was a great supporter of our school and Catholic Education in this city. Our Tuesday ‘voluntary Mass’ will continue to be held in the Chapel at 8.25 am. This is a great opportunity to fit this most sacred of celebrations into your week.     Celebration and Success as results soar at St Edmund Campion

    For the third year running, St Edmund Campion are celebrating excellent A-Level results. Students achieved an impressive 71 % A*-C in their A-Level examinations with 41% of grades at A*, A, B. The overall pass rate was 99%. The Sixth Form Team and all of the staff are immensely proud of the tremendous achievement of their students. Read More

    Our students descended on Wyndley Leisure Centre on Friday 13th July 2018. As the early morning sun beat down on the track every student from Year 7, 8 & 9 readied themselves to pitch their talents against peers from other houses and smooth transition to their house pens, registration marks taken. Special guest announcer Mr Hall with his one-liners and wise-cracks to each and every student who wandered past his view point. Read More
