Visit to the Globe Theatre for Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew
    7th September 2012

On the 7th September 2012 36 students studying A Level English Literature and English Literature and Language in year 12 and in year 13 visited the Globe Theatre in London to watch a performance of William Shakespeare’s The Taming of The Shrew. It was a good performance and the students enjoyed the play and the amazingly authentic setting of the Globe. It was a revelation to find that Shakespeare could be so funny and entertaining and those of us who had to stand throughout forgot to moan about our aching feet as we became enchanted by the brilliant performances of the cast, especially Samantha Spiro (known for her stage and T.V. work such as “Grandma’s House”) as the Shrew, Katherina. Also it was nice to look at the various sights of London such as the Globe Theatre, The Gherkin, The Houses of Parliament and more. It was a good day, a good experience for all and a great way to start our A Level experience. Luke Smith Read More

Just over 20% of our students achieved three or more A*-A grades. These fantastic results are testament to the hard work and dedication of both our staff and students and a culmination of our efforts over the last 2 years.
