    Sixth Form Envision Success

    The Sixth Form Envision students presented their polished pitches to a panel of judges on 19th December. The panel included members of NHS Clinical Commissioning Groups, Co-op and the University of Birmingham. The students were pitching for a maximum amount of £100 to put their health campaigns into action. Team Motiv8 (promoting exercise) impressed the judged so much with their imaginative pitch and articulate answers to questioning that they were awarded the full £100. Read More

    Science Department Welcome Pupils From SS Mary and John

    The Science department welcomed twelve pupils from SS Mary and John School, where they earned their Bunsen burner licences. They also learned about the Science behind the colours of fireworks and were able to identify unknown elements from the knowledge they had gained. The pupils were a credit to their school and enjoyed learning new skills. We look forward to seeing them again in the New Year.     Miss Adams has been busy running both the KS3/under 13’s and KS4/under 15’s girl’s sides who have played their first ever competitive league and cup fixtures this term. This has largely been an incredibly successful undertaking. Testament to the hard work from both staff and students alike. The under 15’s have had mixed results this half term. To begin with they struck off in a positive manner earning a 2-2 draw with local Catholic rivals Cardinal Wiseman. However, then lost to Hodgehill and Greenwood academy. Read More

  • Campion Glorious At Villa Park

    Campion Glorious At Villa Park

    Five students were selected from years 8 and 9 to compete in a Premier League initiative Social Enterprise. The students represented the school excellently and were fantastic. They had to develop a business idea and produce a proposal which they did and performed in front of professional judges and other schools. As with representing the school like true campionites the students won the competition and will represent AVFC in the regional final at Wolverhampton Wanderers in January. Read More

    Groups of year 9 and 10 students were selected to give them the opportunity to see what the working world and working in a trade would be like. The VIY project is sponsored by Wickes and all materials came from them, a team of 3 experts came to the school to support the students in their project. The students completed the job in 2 days, the boys changing rooms have been completely transformed! Read More

    Father Eddie Clare celebrated our annual St Edmund Campion Feast Day mass last Friday. It was a most prayerful time with over 1,000 staff and students present in the Sports Hall. Mr Morris read for us the ‘Campion Bragge,’ written by Edmund Campion before returning to England form Germany. It was his calling card to the Nation and his willingness to risk all for the spread of the Gospel. St Edmund Campion said, “My charge is, of free cost to preach the Gospel, to minister Sacraments, to instruct the simple, to reform sinners, to confute error – in brief, to cry alarm spiritual against foul vice and proud ignorance, wherewith many of my dear countrymen were abused.” Read More

    We are all very proud of Damian in Year 13 for been invited to interview at The University of Cambridge last week. Damian is hoping to study Engineering and will find out in the New Year if he has been offered a place. The Engineering course at the University of Cambridge normally lasts four years and leads to two degrees: BA (with Honours) and MEng. The first two years of the course aim to give a broad overview of the subject, covering mechanical and structural engineering, as well as materials, electrical and information engineering. Read More
