Catholic Life Of Our School

May Procession

This week in school our Year 7’s took part in our May Procession in honour of Our Lady.  Being Wednesday we focused on the Glorious Mysteries, The Crowning of Our Lady Queen of Heaven.  Mrs Steele placed the crown on Our Lady’s head as we prayed a decade of the rosary and sang Hail Queen of Heaven.

St Edmund Campion bids au revoire to Fr Gabby.

On Thursday we had a beautiful liturgy attended by Fr Gabby in the school chapel.  He was surrounded by our students who had attended the Abbey Primary School.  We placed Fr Gabby into the hands of Our Lady of Perpetual Help as he moves from Birmingham to Liverpool.  As a school community we thanked Fr Gabby for his ministry. He then posed for a photo with the students.

Charity Money

This week we donated £100 to the Children’s Hospital.

We still have £200 to commit.  This will be published in the next newsletter.

Diary Date

Thursday:  The Ascension of the Lord.

Sixth Sunday of Easter

‘The Holy Spirit will remind you of all I have said to you.’

If ever you needed a pep talk or some words of wisdom before a significant event in your life, well they can be found in this Sunday’s Gospel.  Jesus reassures us not only of his continued presence among us but that the ‘Advocate, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in my name will teach you everything and remind you of all I have said to you.’

There is no better way to face the week ahead than to know that we are not alone.

Pope Francis’ Intention for May

The Church in Africa, a Seed of Unity

That the Church in Africa, through the commitment of its members, may be the seed of unity among her peoples and a sign of hope for this continent.

Please remember our students in your prayers at this time as they sit their exams.

Prayer for Exam Success:  Lord, I know you are with me and love me. Give me peace of mind as I prepare for this time of study. Help me to focus on my books and notes, keep me from all distractions so that I will make the best use of this time that is available to me. Give me insight that I might understand what I am studying and help me to remember it when the time comes. Above all, I thank you for the ability to be able to study and for the many gifts and talents you have given me. Help me always to use them in such a way that they honour you and do justice to myself.
