Through a variety of creative and practical activities, pupils are be taught the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to engage in an iterative process of designing and making a range of food recipes. Well planned recipes, food culture/ heritage and food provenance are at the heart of our knowledge rich curriculum.

When designing and making, pupils are taught to:

Design - use research and exploration, such as the study of different food cultures, to identify and understand user needs.

Develop specifications to inform the design of innovative, functional, appealing products that respond to needs in a variety of situations

Make - select from and use specialist tools, techniques, processes, equipment and machinery to precisely cut, chop and prepare food.

Evaluate - analyse the food products that have been made for appearance, taste, colour and texture.
